Allied Machine & Engineering is excited to announce that the GEN3SYS® XT Pro product line is now available.

The new GEN3SYS® XT Pro line of inserts is a combination of substrate, geometry and coating designed for drilling specific ISO material classes. This launch includes geometries for P (Steel), K (Cast Iron), and N (Nonferrous) materials. Each geometry is tailored specifically for maximum performance in these material classes. The inserts are available in diameters 11mm-35mm.

Along with the material specific geometries, a new holder was developed to improve chip evacuation and coolant flow to the work piece interface. The new holders are available in 3, 5, 7, and now 10xD configurations. Each length is available only in straight flute with or without a flat, and in imperial or metric shanks.

The combination of the GEN3SYS® XT Pro inserts and holders has proven to produce longer tool life and provide increased penetration rates giving the XT Pro a competitive advantage over similar high penetration drilling systems.

Designed for drill depths varying from 1 to 1.2 length to diameter ratio, depending on series, the stub holders provide increased rigidity for shallow hole drilling and spotting applications by minimizing tool projection.

Innovative, high performance drilling systems for aerospace and defence is the clear focus on AMEC's exhibition area at this year's Farnborough Air show, where the company is exhibiting as part of the North West Aerospace Alliance pavilion, alongside other 'member' companies.

MACH 2010 sees the European launch of a number of new product ranges from AMEC, with the new GEN3SYS® stainless steel cutting geometry inserts, the BT-A deep drilling system and the new polycrystalline diamond (PCD) range taking centre stage on the company's 90m2 stand.

A new range of high performance threaded shank drills has been launched by AMEC, specifically for the aerospace and defence industries, which use replacement insert technology and are fully compatible with both Quackenbush® and Lübbering® drilling systems.

Until one of AMEC's German distributors, stepped in at specialist hydraulic systems manufacturer, Bolenz & Schäfer GmbH, the company had subcontracted work where holes larger than 90mm diameter were required due to the additional demands placed on its machine tools.

By replacing its existing deep hole drills with the new BT-Adrill from Allied Maxcut, engineers at Cummins' diesel manufacturing plant in Daventry have achieved a 40% productivity increase and doubled the tool life on its crankcase manufacturing line.

The latest innovation from AMEC is the new BT-A deep hole drilling system, which uses the latest T-A® and GEN2 T-A®replaceable insert technology to deliver significant gains in productivity, penetration rates and tool life improvements over other alterative deep drilling solutions.

AMEC has launched a new range of inserts the high performance GEN3SYS® drilling system, which use a dedicated geometry developed specifically for use when cutting various grades of cast iron to give increased tool life and wear resistance in high productivity environments.

AMEC's ground breaking Revolution Drill and Core Drill ranges have been extended further with the launch of the latest increased diameter range to give even greater manufacturing and production flexibility, enabling diameters of up to 142.75mm to be drilled.

High penetration GEN3SYS® drills from Allied Maxcut (AMEC) have exceeded expectations at a major sub-contract manufacturer, by delivering a tool life improvement of almost 20% in a production operation where the company felt it was already achieving good results from existing tooling.

As a key sub-contractor, machining ferrous castings and forgings for the international oil, gas and power generation industries as well as heavy duty construction equipment and engineering sectors, John Hyde Engineering's (JHE) continued investment in high performance machine tools means that it operates two advanced flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) at its extensive plant in Stoke on Trent.

The latest FMS line has recently been completed with the installation of Mazak E1060V Vertical mill-turn and Mazak FH-8800 horizontal machining centres plus 18 robot fed pallets, which adds to the company's existing 22 pallet facility. With this level of investment in high productivity machining centres JHE's choice of tooling is absolutely critical to achieve the best performance and productivity.

However, when machining one particular component, a large cast iron flywheel housing for industrial and heavy duty diesel engines, the company found that the tool life on drills from its existing supplier was inconsistent and unpredictable. This was an issue as the housing was supplied as part of a JIT supply agreement with JHE's customer and any deliveries outside the agreed tolerance levels carried severe penalties.

Against the background of Euro 2008 and multi-million transfer deals, two local youth & junior teams from Dudley are achieving great things, with a little help on a more down to earth scale from its main kit sponsor, Allied Maxcut (AMEC).

Launched in Europe at this years MACH exhibition, the newCore Drill™ from Allied Maxcut (AMEC) has already achieved outstanding results in North America, where it was introduced in mid-2007. With one customer, Wellhead Inc of Bakersfield California, the Core Drill helped them reduce valve body manufacturing time by 85%.

The recent MACH 2008 exhibition a the NEC, Birmingham has proven to be one of AMEC's most successful shows to date now that the enquiries have been fully processed and actioned by the company's sales and marketing team.

Two new adjustable high performance drill ranges have been launched by Allied Maxcut, which provide high metal removal rates together with the flexibility of being able to alter their cutting diameters to meet precise production requirements and hole sizes up to 142.75mm.

The countdown to the UK’s largest manufacturing technology and tooling exhibition, MACH 2008, continues apace as AMEC finalises plans for the show which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 21st – 25th April 2008.

AMEC's innovative GEN3SYS® high penetration drilling system has been extended, enabling the high performance benefits and characteristics of the range to be used for drilling holes from 12mm up to 32mm diameter.

AMEC's busy training centre at its European HQ recently hosted a series of intensive product training sessions for two of its key distributors from Italy and Belgium.

Ten sales and technical support engineers from Italian distributor Febametal S.p.A. and N.V. Irontec in Belgium attended the two day Technical Education Seminar (TES) which covered a range of AMEC products including GEN3SYS®GEN2 T-A®AccuPort, and AccuThread as well as previewing the latest V-Maxx’ range.

In addition to covering performance data, manufacturing applications and the latest AMEC developments, detailed product demonstration also form a key part of the course, where drills, thread mills, reamers and other tooling are put through their paces on various materials to show chip forming, finish and accuracy under different operating conditions.

AMEC runs training courses throughout the year for UK and European distributors and customers. Click the link below to view the schedule of Technical Education Seminars.
